My name is May Arthurton the founder of the Chapeltown & Harehills Learning Project. I have worked as an English teacher for over 10 years in the further education sector national and internationally. I had a strong desire to start my own education centre that will help many disadvantaged adult learners in the UK and worldwide.

In 2006 I opened up my first centre which was small but very rewarding. We had a lot of students that attended and this led to me expanding the business within 2 years. In 2009 I opened up my second education centre which I am currently running.

To date the business is growing and we are receiving many learners who want to join the variety of courses we provide. I am currently purchasing my own building which will be an education centre and a community purpose building.

I am currently studying for a master’s degree in education and helping to develop a primary school in Kenya and a further education college in Ghana.
